Rag Morris

Rag Morris is a vibrant and enthusiastic morris side based in Bristol. We dance mainly Cotswold traditions, with just a dash of the Welsh Borders, and you can easily spot us in our eclectic multicoloured tatterjackets and bells. We’re open to everybody over the age of 16, of all genders, experience and abilities. Just come along to any practice throughout the year! We’re registered with the Morris Federation, and part of the Bristol University Folk Society family – an affiliate society of Bristol University Student Union. Formed in 1981 we’re one of the oldest still existing university morris sides in the country, and over the years we’ve found ourselves embroiled in more and more adventures. We’ve danced at Gennetines Festival, in Prague, and we’ve hit the world stage at the Olympics Closing Ceremony in 2012 (yep, that was us!). We’ve got lost in the Scottish borders and danced in the sea on the Dorset coast, and in all the spaces between we’ve rocked up at festivals, fetes, ceilidhs, pub gardens, wassails, conferences and Pride parades – and generally had a pretty spectacular time. As a side we believe in fun and inclusivity above all else. Whether you want to watch, say hello, or get involved dancing or playing an instrument, you’re always warmly welcome.
