Gwerinwyr Gwent

Formed in 1976 by 8 people from the Gwent area, the name translates as 'folk of Gwent'. Gwerinwyr Gwent aim to keep the tradition and culture of Welsh music and dance. We dance just for pleasure although we also take part in festivals and demonstrations in Wales, the UK and Europe. Our dances vary from lively fair dances to slow courtly dances and can be hundreds of years old or choreographed in the last twenty years.
