“The English Dancing Master“ was published by John Playford “lest the tunes be forgot”. Thanks to the work of Cecil Sharp and others both the tunes and dances were the basis of the country dance revival in the early 20th century and many still form the backbone of dancing today. This session includes some of those dances, some slow and gentle, others lively and energetic. (G)
