Maria Gillen is a Bean Feasa (Wise Woman) Teller in the Irish Celtic Tradition. She comes from a long line of tellers and has personally been told stories by her Mother (Annie Gillen), her Grandmother (Ellen Cahalane) and her Great Grandmother (Annie Conroy) - she has a wealth of stories from these fine tellers and enjoys co-creating stories in the long held red thread of story tradition of her native Cork City. She has told for Adults, Children, Festivals, Corporate, Community, Storymaking Workshops, Storytelling Workshops, Medicinal Storytelling Groups (based on her work as a Dramatherapist and a Fetac Level 5 & 6 Trainer). She has been a Storyteller in Residence and Artistic Director for Storytelling Festivals in the South of Ireland. She treasures her links to the Irish Rambling House Tradition and has set up a number of Story Archives to collect precious stories.
