Youth folk arts specialists Shooting Roots are offering four high-energy workshops - in body percussion, song, drama/storytelling and traditional games - to KS2 children from primary schools across the local area.
Body percussion:
Creating noise, beats and rhythms from everything you already own.
Storytelling/Drama:
Becoming characters and exploring traditional tales.
Song:
Blending young voices and minds to create harmony and explore oral traditions.
Traditional games:
Fun from past playgrounds, rhymes and activities.
The workshops are part of a wider day of folk fun for children across the community to enjoy, and support the primary curriculum in literacy, oracy, numeracy, music development, drama, heritage, physical education, culture and British values.
These events take place behind closed doors, and there is no public access, in line with good safeguarding practice.
Shooting Roots Shooting Roots is an inclusive youth folk organisation run by young people for young people.
