Trinculo deliver classic, tuneful and gloriously gritty dance music that fills floors and lifts roofs. Drawing on deep roots in traditional music and a fearless sense of groove, they serve up driving, joyful tunes — many written by the band themselves — that are made to be danced to and impossible to resist. Formed in Sheffield in 2002, Trinculo quickly became a favourite on the ceilidh circuit. After a well-earned sabbatical, the band are back with renewed fire, delighting dancers once again at ceilidhs for Oxfolk and SHOCC. Expect big melodies, infectious rhythms and the kind of energy that keeps dancers grinning long after the last tune. The band features a formidable line-up of seasoned musicians: Aisling Holmes on fiddle, Jemma Eaton on whistles and soprano sax, Ray Cunningham (Glorystrokes) on melodeon, Lee O’Donnell (Glorystrokes) on bass, and Nigel Holmes (Melrose Ceilidh Quintet, Glorystrokes, Hekety) on guitar. Together, they create a sound that’s bold, warm and irresistibly danceable.
