There are lots of ways to get involved and be part of making Chippenham Folk Festival happen. Here’s a taste of some of the volunteer roles available — whether you’d like to be front of house, behind the scenes or somewhere in between, there’s a role for everyone. Volunteer application forms will be added to this page shortly, so keep an eye out for details on how to sign up.

Venue Stewards

Our venue volunteers help make the festival run smoothly, from supporting venue management and welcoming attendees to answering questions and solving problems as they arise. Volunteering is a great way to get involved, meet new people, learn new skills and experiences, and play an important part in creating a friendly and welcoming festival for everyone.

Task Force

Our Taskforce crew are the people behind the scenes who keep the festival’s infrastructure running, from the initial build through to the event itself and the final break. We’re looking for practical, hands-on volunteers including carpenters, electricians, plumbers, set designers and builders, radio communications specialists and drivers. If you enjoy getting stuck in and making things happen, we’d love to hear from you.

Family & Community

The Family & Community team brings our public-facing programme of family and community events to life around Island Park. They create opportunities for children and young people to get involved in creative activities, traditional arts and music, helping make the festival welcoming, inspiring and fun for all ages.

Collectors

Our collections team help raise vital funds for the festival by collecting donations from festival-goers around displays, free events and busy areas. They also help sell festival programmes and encourage visitors to support the festival, helping us keep the festival flourishing for years to come.

Litter Pickers

Join our litter-picking team and help keep Island Park clean, tidy and welcoming for everyone. You’ll be out and about enjoying the festival atmosphere while helping to keep the site looking its best. The rubbish bags can get heavy, so it’s a hands-on role, but shifts run between 9am and 6pm, leaving your evenings free to enjoy the festival.

Merch Tent

Join our small, friendly merch team and help sell the official Chippenham Folk Festival range of clothing and souvenirs from our festival merch tent on Island Park. It’s a great way to meet festival-goers, chat about the festival and help visitors take home a little piece of the experience.

Communications

The Communications Team helps keep everyone connected throughout the festival, maintaining contact with Event Control and supporting the coordination of incidents and requests across the site. It’s a vital behind-the-scenes role for people who enjoy staying organised, communicating clearly and helping things run smoothly.
